Some of you may know that I’ve been selling Origami Owl this past year as a way to raise funds for our adoption, but you may not know exactly what it is as the company is very new. I wanted to write a post explaining the jewelry in a little greater detail because Christmas is just around the corner and these make excellent gifts! Did I mention that your purchase also helps to bring our little one home?!
The main line Origami Owl offers is the living locket that you can personalize as a way to share your story. Here are the steps:
Pick your locket – There are silver, gold, and rose gold lockets in different sizes. There is also the option for added bling (crystals).
Pick your chain – short, long, chunky, etc.
Metal plates with engraved words such as mom, blessed, love life, etc. There are different sizes and metals, so you can mix it up however you wish. For example, you can order a large Blessed plate and then add a smaller mama plate to place on top.
Charms – this is the part where your “story” comes into play. There are tons to choose from – birthstones, hobbies, animals, faith, etc.
Dangles – These just offer another opportunity to personalize your locket by adding a little extra color or maybe you just love owls like me!
I have two lockets. My large silver locket shares my heart for adoption. So the coffee cup stands for Ethiopia, the letter stands for all the paperwork, the foot stands for the child hand-picked by God to be our son or daughter, faith stands for the leap of faith we took when we first started the process, the cross stands for so many things –God’s plan/timing, God’s hand at work in our process and in us, the strength to make it through another day of waiting, etc. The plane stands for the two trips we’ll be taking to Ethiopia. The brown crystal stands for my love for the children of Africa. I wear this locket on the longer chain with dangles that I switch out based on my mood or outfit.
My second locket is gold and symbolizes my hobbies – scissors for crafting, a camera for my love of pictures and so on. I just have the shorter chain with this one and usually wear the pearl dangle with it.
Additional ideas for the lockets: personalize based on a sports team (professional or your child’s team), milestones such as a wedding, family, cancer survivor, your profession like teacher or hair dresser, or maybe you’re an army wife or mom or your husband is a firefighter and you want to honor that– the options are endless!
The second line is new – like this month new! It’s called Tagged. They go like this:
Pick a chain
Decide if you want a tag or initials or both.
Add additional touches with accents and earth elements.
Again, the options are endless here as well. I haven’t ordered myself one yet, but it’s on my to-do list!
I am not currently doing home parties, but you may host an online party. This is solely because my plate is full right now with adoption paperwork, education and fundraising. Yes, it’s that time again. I had to release a few responsibilities to keep my sanity – this being one, but people continue to order online consistently and for that I’ve been thankful. ALL commission goes towards the adoption. You can check out the product and place orders online by visiting my page. For Christmas orders, please order a few weeks in advance to ensure they arrive in time.
